Green Team Update
Since the inception of the leavers initiative in the South West, there has been a 98% reduction in arrests and assault and a 58% reduction in the costs incurred for repairs and cleanup. Green Team is proud to have been serving the Leavers for over 14 years as part of this initiative. This has been through the provision of the Entertainment Zone which is a drug and alcohol-free space where the 9000+ leavers can celebrate each evening.
This year we have many opportunities to display the heart of the Green Team - To love the leavers and be the hands and feet of Jesus in the community in helping and caring for them.
Wristband issuing
The leaver's wristband is the gateway to the leaver's activities in the South West. We have been charged with doing our part to ensure that the Leavers are kept safe throughout the week. This is accomplished by ensuring that leavers that have signed up and paid for their wristbands can get their bands and ensure that wristbands only go on the wrist of genuine leavers. Protecting them from toolies and people that want to prey on vulnerable leavers.
Leavers engagement – Wristband line, Entertainment Zone, Meelup Beach party
Alongside the role of issuing wristbands, we have the opportunity to engage with leavers in the lines and spend time interacting and doing activities with them. Our role on Sunday and Monday will be based around the wristband distribution lines with lots of interaction opportunities.
This year we are pleased to let you know that we also have the opportunity to help provide engagement and assistance to the leavers inside the Entertainment zone. Our teams will be filling roles addressing areas of need as they are identified. Our goal is to assist the leavers in having a safe and fun time. We are there to serve the leavers and the other support agencies that are involved in the zone. Wednesday during the day we will be sending a team to assist with areas of need at the Meelup Beach party.
Whether you come for the 3 days to help provide wristbands and engagement in the lines or you feel called to join us for the whole week and assist leavers in the zone, if you have a heart for caring for the Leavers we would love to hear from you.
Accommodation
The Green Team volunteers will be staying at the Busselton Baptist Camping Centre in site B. Join us for great comradery, Camp style accommodation at the newly revamped Busselton Camping Centre, Catered meals, games and a great time serving the Leavers community.
Dates
Dates: 18th November to 24th November
If you are not able to commit to the whole time there is a 3-day option available for the 19th - 22nd of November.
Costs
Cost: Early Bird - $120 (Until 11:59 pm on 31st July)
Regular - $140 (After the 1st of August)
3-Day sign-up - Sign up now for Saturday through to Monday Night/ Tuesday Morning. Price - $100

We are planning on taking 35 volunteers including 8 leaders to this year's event so make sure that your register early to secure your spot.
Team Leader and Assistant Team Leader position
